Cover Crop and Animal Rotations for Closed Loop Farm Fertility

ChrisMurray_ThFarm: Sunset Farm
Operator: Chris Murray
Production: Vegetables, Fruit, and Livestock
Location: Burlington, Alamance County, NC

Chris Murray’s project entails further developing his bio-extensive rotation system. This system rotates cover crops, grazing animals, and vegetable production, leading to a cycle that makes off-farm fertility inputs unnecessary. The new implements will make tilling more efficient, reducing tractor costs and improving the overall soil structure.
