Farmers, it’s time to stand and be counted. Here are two ways you can make your voice heard this year.
Want to be part of making policies that better help farmers in your area? Nominations are now being accepted for new members of local Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committee. Farmers can nominate themselves or other farmers to be on the committee. Nomination forms are available from your local FSA office and are due by August 3rd, 2015.
In our “Every (Farmer’s) Vote Counts” series, we here at RAFI have been spreading the word about ongoing FSA county committee elections. As part of our Farmer Leadership Network, we support family farmers to become more involved in the groups that make decisions about their farms and their livelihoods.
The nomination period for FSA County Committees is now open! Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Committees consist of a small group of farmers who are each elected for three-year terms. Committees make decisions about the agency’s programs and conduct outreach to other farmers to improve participation and access to services.
